About Julie

After a career teaching Home Arts in schools, Julie moved to Queensland where she started her first patchwork class. It all began from there!

She continued teaching patchwork after moving to Melbourne where she taught at The Craft Cottage in Mount Waverley. She now teaches at the Onpoint Patchwork and Needlecraft Shop in Waratah, a suburb of Newcastle, New South Wales.

She is currently teaching a Baltimore style quilt called "Baltimore Beauty" (Quilting the Garden) which was designed by Lou White of Victoria. It features hand appliqued flowers and won third prize in the "Predominately Applique (Professional)" category at the prestigous Sydney Quilt Show 2006, part of the Craft and Quilt Fair at Darling Harbour.

She began designing quilts to suit specific fabrics but now prefers scrappy quilts above all else. Julie's unique designs are romantic, feminine and classical and often feature roses and pretty pastels.

Julie also enjoys knitting, crochet, embroidery, dressmaking, cooking and especially bridge.

The obsession with textiles must be in the blood, as Julie recently discovered that one of her ancestors was deported from England to the penal colony of Australia for stealing a roll of fabric!
